CASCADE: level PID sets an outflow setpoint; inner flow PI limits gate opening to the waterline.

A low water level can cause water shortages and equipment to run dry. Overflow can cause flooding. Both conditions trigger visible alarms.

Control modesHow the demo works
CascadeLevel PID provides a flow setpoint to an inner PI controller. In this demo, gate opening is limited to the current water level. At high inflow and low level, the setpoint may be unreachable.
Without cascadeThe level PID commands the gate directly using a nominal flow-to-gate conversion, with full 0–100% travel.
PID / Structured TextThe PID adjusts the gate to track setpoint. The Structured Text display illustrates the controller calculations as you tune Kp, Ki and Kd.
Manual / 40 s challengeYou control the gate. Two inflow changes and a burst of heavy rain make the 40-second challenge more demanding.
